Fewer than two-thirds of babies born in England and Wales are now registered as ‘White British’. Newly-released figures give the first official breakdown of births by ethnic identity, and offer a striking insight into the changing face of Britain’s population.

Of 649,371 babies born in 2005, 64.4% were recorded as ‘White British’. The next largest group were the 8.7% who were recorded as Asian — of whom Pakistanis formed the biggest section with 3.7%.

Five percent of babies were recorded as black: 3% African, 1.2% ‘black or black British Caribbean’ and 0.8% ‘other black’ identities.

Mixed race babies accounted for 3.5% of births, while 5.1% were Irish or ‘other white identities’ and 2.4% were Chinese or ‘other groups’.

The report from the Office for National Statistics follows a separate publication last week showing that a quarter of all babies are now born to immigrant mothers.

In London the figure is 54%, rising to 75% in some boroughs. The fast-moving trend means that babies born to immigrant mothers are set to become the main driver of Britain’s population growth within the next few years, taking over from immigration itself.

The proportion of births registered by single mothers — those where no father’s details are given — was highest in the Caribbean group at 20.5% followed by African (13%) and ‘White British’ (7%).

The findings will reinforce concerns over the effects of broken homes and the lack of effective male role-models among black youths.

An Israel mother and daughter have been arrested on suspicion of trafficking women for prostitution from Israel to London.

Therese Orland, 55, and Katrin (Katty) Atiya, 28, were detained on Sunday as they arrived at Ben-Gurion Airport and were remanded until Wednesday. They are suspected of human trafficking, false imprisonment, assault and theft. The adverts boasted that the women could earn $1,000 (£538) a day. Police said that those who answered the adverts would then meet Mrs Atiya in a café and she would explain the nature of the work.

But once the women arrived in the UK, the conditions of the agreement changed and they allegedly received only a 40 per cent cut of their earnings, although they had been promised 50 per cent and were made to pay expenses such as rent and transport.

Most of them stayed in the six or seven flats which Mrs Atiya rented on London’s Fulham Road.
Police say some of the women had their passports taken by Mrs Atiya and her mother, and were made to work longer hours than originally agreed.

Using phone records, police traced 15 women who had answered the adverts and were trafficked to London.

Supt Shuki Balili, head of the Department for Severe Crime and Women Trafficking at the Israel police unit which investigates international crime, said: “Katty [Katrin] was the dominant figure. She advertised on the internet, she rented the flats and she accompanied the whole work process.

“The women trafficked consisted of a few students, but most of the women have already been involved in prostitution in Israel. They understood exactly what the purpose of the journey was, but did not understand that the terms promised to them would be altered.”

Police also found internet sites run by the suspects that showed pictures of the women as well as a price for obtaining sexual services from them. Prices ranged from £160 for an hour to £1,000 for the night. They also confiscated a computer on which they found further pictures of naked women.

Supt Balili said that Mrs Atiya allegedly started offering girls as escorts in London in 2004. He added that she also worked as an escort herself.

Her husband, Amos Atiya, and her mother, Mrs Orland, joined her in London and Supt Balili said the alleged human-trafficking ring became a “family business”.

Amos Atiya’s brother, Moshe, was also allegedly involved and was arrested on Tuesday. He and Mrs Orland are accused of locking four of the girls in one of the flats and of taking their money. Moshe Atiya is also accused of raping them.

Both Ms Orland and Mrs Atiya this week denied the allegations through their lawyer. Shlomi Blumenfeld said: “We’re sorry that the police chose to conduct the investigation [in] the media. We will present our claims in court and not in the media.”

A hearing regarding their detention on remand was due to have taken place yesterday (Thursday).

In May 2007, police broke up a similar ring that had advertised for jobs abroad for “pretty young women”. The jobs in fact involved working as prostitutes in Ireland.

The Metropolitan Police said Israeli authorities had informed it of the case but had not requested its assistance.

Immigration is fuelling the biggest rise in Britain’s population for almost 50 years, official figures show.

Within a decade, there will be 65 million people in the UK – an increase of five million.

By 2028, the population will be over 70 million and reach 71 million by 2031, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) predicted.

This is the fastest growth rate since the post-war baby boom.

But unlike in the 1950s and 1960s, the main cause of the rise is immigration.

Foreign settlers are adding to the population and, because they are younger, are pushing up the fertility rate.

Statisticians said immigration would be responsible for at least 70 per cent of the rise in population over the next 20 years.

The rest will be babies born to British mothers – many of whom are second generation immigrants.

The population will also grow because people are living longer, researchers said.

Officials said the combination of high immigration, rising fertility and better life expectancy was “unique” in the country’s history.

The ONS predicted England would grow the fastest with an increase of 8 per cent by 2016, compared to 7 per cent in Northern Ireland, 5 per cent in Wales, and just 3 per cent in Scotland.

The figures have huge implications for public policy.

Just three years ago, the ONS was projecting significantly slower growth rates.

This data was used to plan for housing, transport, health and education demand in the years to come.

But these issues will now have to be revisited by Whitehall departments.

The population in 2012 will be 1.7m higher than the Government thought it would be just three years ago.

The main reason is that officials underestimated the impact of immigration by one third.

Researchers have increased their migration estimates from a net increase of 145,000 or more per year in 2004 to 190,000 or more each year.

The new figures – released on the same day the European Commission announced plans for a blue card scheme to boost Europe’s share of highly-skilled immigrant workers – will fuel the debate over Labour’s policy on immigration controls.

The Conservative Party earlier this week renewed its call for a cap on the intake of migrant workers from outside the European Union.

“We can’t go on like this. Increasing the population gradually is one thing, but a headlong, unplanned rise is creating problems for public services and possible social tensions. This needs urgent action from the Government,” Damian Green, the shadow immigration minister, said.

Former London mayor Ken Livingstone is to work as a consultant for Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Mr Livingstone, who has long been a supporter of Mr Chavez, will advise pro-government mayors in the capital Caracas on urban planning.

He said he was “proud and honoured” to be part of the city’s transformation.

As mayor, Mr Livingstone struck a deal to swap cheap Venezuelan oil for city planning advice, but it was cancelled by his successor Boris Johnson.

After a meeting with Mr Chavez in Caracas on Wednesday, the former mayor said he was pleased that Venezuela would now get the “advice that we promised”.

politicians and critics of the Führer, as she compares his greatness 
with their contemptible insignificance and unworthiness.


Gentlemen!  Remember this: Your names will long be forgotten

name Adolf Hitler will still be a light in the darkness.  You cannot 
murder him by drowning his memory in your vomit-buckets, and 
you cannot strangle him with your filthy, ink-stained fingers.  His 
name exists forever in hundreds of thousands of souls.  You are 
entirely too insignificant to even touch him. 

He loved Germany; he lived for Germany.  When he fought for honor 
and respect, he fought for German honor, for respect for Germany; 
and when there was nothing left, he gave his life for Germany. 

What have you given thus far?  Which one of you would give his life 
for Germany?  The only things you care about are riches, power and 
never-ending luxurious living.  When you think of Germany, you think 
of indulging your senses withhout responsibility, without cares.

Trust me on this:  The Führer’s utter selflessness in word and deed 
alone guarantees his immortality.  The fact that the bitter fight for 
Germany’s greatness was not crowned with success like, for example, 
Cromwell’s in Britain, has a lot to do with the mentality of the people 
involved.  On the one hand, the Englishman¹s character is essentially 
unfair, ruled by jealousy, self-importance and a lack of consideration. 
But he never forgets that he is an Englishman, loyal to his people 
and to his crown.  On the other hand, the German, with his need for 
recognition, is never first and foremost a German. 

Therefore it doesn¹t matter to you, you insignificant creatures, if you 
destroy the entire nation.  The only thought that guides you will 
always be: Me firstMe second
you will never think of the welfare of the nation.  And with such a 
pitiful philosophy you wish to prevent the immortality of a giant? 

What I wrote down immediately after the war has proven to be 
correct. That my convictions are true is evident, even as late as 1957.

Attack victim Chris Jordan wrote to the Evening Telegraph and expressed his dismay that the park’s CCTV was broken and plans for a police office had not been fulfilled.

The 64-year-old said he was kicked and spat on in a racist attack.

t was one of six violent incidents in the park in recent months.

The Arboretum was Britain’s first public park, dating back to 1840. It has undergone a £5.5m makeover with National Lottery cash.

But police are now trying to get community leaders together to stop it becoming a no-go zone. They revealed that they were working on “a partnership plan to improve security”, as well as making daily patrols.

June 9: Chris Jordan was kicked and spat on by a gang of Asian youths.

July 19: A 16-year-old white boy was left with a broken leg and facial injuries after being beaten up with a metal bar by a gang of Asian youths.

AN Asian man shouted racist abuse at white hospital staff when he attended an appointment with his pregnant girlfriend.

Forid Miah (29) threatened a receptionist and care worker saying he would bring his boys back, and called them a white b***h and a white b*****d.

He also told a security guard he would remember his face and come back to shoot him.

At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, yesterday, Miah, of Bamford Street, Oldham, pleaded guilty to two counts of racially aggravated harassment.

Emma Atkinson, prosecuting, said: “On February 5, the defendant and his pregnant wife were late for an appointment at the Royal Oldham Hospital.

“At reception, Scott Morris was taking a call. He told the defendant he wouldn’t be a moment and to take a seat.

“Mr Morris then had to leave the reception momentarily but indicated he would be back quickly. He said he could hear the word “b****rd” being used.

“Mr Morris warned the defendant that he would call security and asked if the words were being directed at him.

“At this point a health care assistant came to reception and the defendant swore when telling her the man had been on the phone and was ignoring him.

“She said the defendant had his finger constantly pressed on the bell.

“When she asked him to take a seat, the defendant became very agitated. He came so close their faces were touching.

“He then shouted ‘listen white b***h I’ll sit down when I want to sit down’.

“She said he lifted his left hand above his head and she believed he was about to hit her.

“A security guard tried to deal with the incident. He said the defendant was gesturing with his fingers in the shape of a gun, saying ‘I’ll come back and shoot you’.

Louise Brandon, defending, said: “Mr Miah attended hospital with his heavily pregnant wife who was suffering problems with her diabetes.

“They were a little late for their appointment and the defendant was clearly concerned that they had missed the appointment.

“I accept that his behaviour was completely unacceptable but this was a one-off loss of control.”

Judge Mushtak Khokhar sentenced Miah to four months’ jail suspended for 18 months and 100 hours’ unpaid work, plus £400 costs.
